K-3rd Development Pathway

Answering a Need

We often hear from families with younger (under 4th grade) players asking, "My child loves basketball and wants to start preparing now. Where should they begin?". We love seeing that excitement!

Skyline Boys Select Basketball officially begins at 4th grade, but we know many athletes want to start building skills, confidence, and experience before they reach Select basketball. We also know families are often looking for guidance on where to begin.

Our goal is simple: create opportunities for more kids to play basketball and help families navigate the path from beginner development through competitive basketball.

Families are encouraged to conduct their own research and determine the best fit for their player and family goals.

Program Connections: Skyline Select & CTB

As we've connected with families throughout the community, we recognized an opportunity to help create a clearer pathway for younger athletes interested in basketball development before entering our program.

Skyline Select and CTB Basketball (Compete Train Build) have connected around a shared goal: getting more kids involved in basketball and helping athletes build strong fundamentals in a positive environment.

This does not replace the many local opportunities available to families which are also listed below. We encourage families to explore options and determine the best fit for their player. However, we wanted to provide another local pathway for younger athletes in our community who are looking to prepare for future Select basketball opportunities.

CTB Program Outline

For K–3rd grade athletes, CTB offers basketball development opportunities designed specifically for younger players and focuses on:

• Building fundamental basketball skills
• Confidence and coordination
• Age-appropriate instruction
• Weekly training opportunities
• Fall and spring leagues
• Positive learning environments
• Creating a love for the game

As players continue to grow, CTB also understands the Skyline Select pathway and will help identify and support athletes preparing for our Select program beginning in 4th grade.
